Evaluating Surface Water Nitrogen Pollution via Visual Clustering in Megacity Chengdu

چکیده
The current standards used for nitrogen pollution evaluation are lacking, and scientific classification methods needed to improve water quality management capabilities. This study addresses the important issue of assessing surface by utilizing two advanced multivariate statistical techniques: self-organizing maps (SOMs) obtained using K-means algorithm Hasse diagram technique (HDT). research targets this rivers megacity Chengdu, China. Samples were collected on a monthly basis in 2017–2020 from different sites along rivers, their parameters determined. grouping clustering sampling events SOMs facilitate preprocessing required HDT, wherein clusters ordered according pre-clustered events. results indicate that Chengdu River Basin, which is prominent mainly driven nitrate nitrogen, can be categorized into five levels. Tuo serious. Although degree ammonia Jin higher, range smaller. Furthermore, these evaluated HDT clear reliable. Overall, findings provide local environmental legislation.

متن کاملBTEX pollution caused by motorcycles in the megacity of HoChiMinh.
Monitoring of benzene, toluene and xylenes (BTEX) was conducted along with traffic counts at 17 roadside sites in urban areas of HoChiMinh. Toluene was the most abundant substance, followed by p,m-xylenes, benzene, o-xylene and ethylbenzene. The maximum observed hour-average benzene concentration was 254 microg/m3. Motorcycles contributed to 91% of the traffic fleet. High correlations among BTE...

The increase of nitrite and nitrate concentrations in surface and groundwater is a greatconcern in our lives nowadays. Nitrate and nitrite in drinking water normally originate fromagricultural operation and chemical fertilizers. Therefore, the present study aims toinvestigate the effect of nitrogen fertilizers used in rice cultivation and levels of nitrate andnitrite in farm wastewater and wate...
متن کاملNonpoint Pollution of Surface Waters with Phosphorus and Nitrogen
Agriculture and urban activities are major sources of phosphorus and nitrogen to aquatic ecosystems. Atmospheric deposition further contributes as a source of N. These nonpoint inputs of nutrients are difficult to measure and regulate because they derive from activities dispersed over wide areas of land and are variable in time due to effects of weather. In aquatic ecosystems, these nutrients c...
متن کاملGlobal Gray Water Footprint and Water Pollution Levels Related to Anthropogenic Nitrogen Loads to Fresh Water.
This is the first global assessment of nitrogen-related water pollution in river basins with a specification of the pollution by economic sector, and by crop for the agricultural sector. At a spatial resolution of 5 by 5 arc minute, we estimate anthropogenic nitrogen (N) loads to freshwater, calculate the resultant gray water footprints (GWFs), and relate the GWFs per river basin to runoff to c...
